Interns (Work Holiday Permit) and Newcomers

You chose to live in Montreal for a period of time? Congratulations! Welcome to Montreal, one of of Quebec’s major cities, known for its cultural diversity! Before embarking on the adventure of seeking housing or employment, we invite you to first kick back and relax at the Alternative Hostel of Old Montreal, where you can sleep tight and make your first contacts with other travelers, as well as with our experienced staff. Thanks to our team who speaks French, English, Spanish and Haitian Creole, you will be able to communicate your needs, be understood and receive valuable advice that will allow you to experience a smooth transition.

Families (parents & children)

So you’re traveling with your family and want to find the perfect place to stay with your toddlers? If so, our hostel is the perfect alternative accommodation for you! In addition to providing bassinets and baby high chairs, we have private rooms that include a double bed and a bunk bed (two single beds), which is the perfect option for a family with children (3-4 guests). We also put a toy box at the disposal of the children in the common area. Should you wish to book a dorm, please note that children aged of 6 years old and up are allowed, but must have their own bed at the current rate.

Adults 35 years old and up or a senior

We may have the hostel label, but unlike other similar accommodation options, we allow adults over the age of 35 to book a bed or room with us. The only thing we ask from you is to be young at heart and to want to live the alternative experience! Although many young people choose to stay at the Alternative Hostel, there is still a chill and relaxed atmosphere. In addition, if you book a bed in dorm and anticipate having difficulty reaching the upper bed, just tell us your interest in occupying the bed below. We can’t garantee anything, but we’ll sure do our best to save you one! Please also take note that we have three floors and no elevator.
